Frequently Asked Questions

Craft, Materials & Meaning

What materials are the pieces made of?

Our pieces are made with natural and traditional materials sourced in the Andes, such as alpaca and sheep wool, hand-dyed with plant-based pigments extracted from plants, roots, and minerals from the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Yes. Each piece is handcrafted, and no two creations are ever exactly the same. Small variations in color, weaving, and texture are part of the beauty, proof that it was made by real hands, not machines.

Yes. If the piece you love is listed as “Sold Out,” you can submit a request for us to recreate it for you. Once payment is completed, the weaving process begins. Weaving time varies depending on the piece, usually between 1 to 2 weeks. Once your piece is ready, we will notify you and ship it with a tracking number.

Our pieces are created by artisans from the Sacred Valley of Peru, primarily women, guardians of ancestral textile traditions. Their knowledge has been passed down through generations, through the art of spinning and weaving on traditional looms. Each piece is woven with patience, wisdom, and intention.

Through Sonqollay, we also share their stories, traditions, and the different realities they live, giving visibility to the hands and hearts behind every piece.

Yes. Once a year, Sonqollay gives back by donating a portion of its profits to a community project in the Sacred Valley.

In our first year, we will begin with a reforestation initiative, giving thanks to the land that makes this work possible.
